Students may visit the Library Media Center throughout the day with permission from their teachers. The Library Media Center is open during morning homeroom and throughout the 7-period school day.

Hours

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: 7:55 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Tuesday: 7:55 a.m. to 3:35p.m.

Students can visit the Library Media Center (LMC) throughout the school day with permission from their teachers. The only times during the day that students may not visit the LMC is during lunch and dismissal.

Visiting students must:

• Have permission from their current period teacher;
• Have a pass from their teacher.

The Library Media Center hosts office hours on Tuesdays.  In order to stay after school in the Library Media Center, students must visit Mrs. McCulley & Ms. Kraemer during the day to get permission to stay after school. Visiting students must stay in the Library Media Center for the entirety of office hours.

The Library Media Center will be open Tuesdays from 7:55AM to 3:35PM. Late buses are available to take students home after their visit.

Depending on his/her/their loan history, students may check out up to THREE books at one time. If a student has overdue materials and/or outstanding fines from lost materials, he/she/they can checkout ONE additional book until the outstanding obligations are satisfied.

Students can borrow books for 10 school days at a time.  

Students can renew a book as many times as they would like UNLESS the book is on hold for another student.

Ask Mrs. McCulley or Ms. Kraemer. If the book is in our collection and currently checked out, we can place a hold for you.

If the book is NOT in our collection, but available at another HPS library, then we can obtain the book through inter-library loan.

HMS is YOUR library and we try to fill our shelves with books that YOU want to read. 

Have a recommendation?

Add the book to our Book Recommendation box! We check this box regularly and use it to inform our purchases. Books are typically purchased at the start of the school year, but occasionally orders are placed throughout the school year.

Yes, you definitely can!  Students can access all of our school's databases from home. All they need is the login information. See or email Mrs. McCulley or Ms. Kraemer in the Media Center for specifics.

G Suites Accounts for Education allows students access to online tools that provide workspace for the creation of documents, spreadsheets and encourage collaboration and creativity. Every student has a Google Account established for them by the district with their unique username and password. These accounts are compliant with federal laws protecting your child's privacy.

Your child's Google Account does not provide them with email access or allow them to collaborate with anyone outside of the school district. 

If your child does not remember his/her login information, have him/her consult his/her teacher or media specialist.

Students, and their parents, must sign a district "Acceptable Use Policy" (AUP). The AUP describes what is expected from each student in terms of behaviors related to technology use. The broad categories of behaviors are divided into four behavioral areas:

• Respect and protect the privacy of others
• Respect and protect the integrity, availability, and security of all electronic resources
• Practice good digital citizenship
• Use technologies appropriately.

Unfortunately, we do not carry e-Books or Audiobooks. However, students can access eBooks and Audiobooks through Libby and/or Hoopla from Hamden's Miller Library. Access requires a valid Hamden Library Card. Don't have a library card? We can help you get one!
